Dealmaker Lee says Tottenham only real choice for Olympic stadium

Sports dealmaker Mike Lee says London's Olympic stadium needs Tottenham to make it a future success.

Lee, part of the Olympics bid team six years ago and now the man assisting Spurs, has had a change of heart over the intervening period.

"The key to this is sustainability and a viable legacy over time," said Lee.

"What Spurs are proposing is to build a new stadium on that site, using much of what is already there, and to invest very heavily in the development and regeneration of the Crystal Palace stadium with real athletics legacy.

"Spurs have begun to set out their ideas and plans. I personally feel it is the right way forward."

Lee was also part the successful bid to host the 2016 Olympics, which were awarded to Rio de Janeiro 15 months ago.

Spurs are competing with West Ham United for the hosting.
