AS Roma midfielder Daniele de Rossi was upbeat after their Super Coppa defeat to Inter Milan on Saturday.
Roma gave up the lead to eventually lose 3-1.
"This game must be taken for what it is, the first test of the season," shrugged De Rossi. "It's disappointing, as we were playing well and the match was on the right track for us.
"In any case, if we manage to play like we did in the first half for an entire 90 minutes, then we'll win many games."
Jeremy Menez also agreed that Roma put in a decent performance against the Nerazzurri.
"We were facing the reigning champions of Europe, so we didn't do too badly," said the Frenchman.
"More than Inter winning it, we were the ones who threw it away. We paid a heavy price for some mistakes and also failed to make the most of our scoring opportunities."
