DC United captain Dwayne De Rosario has welcomed coach Ben Olsen's blast this week.

Olsen steamed into his players during Tuesday's training, calling on the senior leadership group to step up.

"I think that's needed at times and I think at the time where he did step in, I think it was needed," said United captain De Rosario.

"It was a good wake-up call.

"Definitely some things need to be addressed. Some things are just a little bit disappointing in terms of where we're at. It's coming from [Olsen] and it's coming from us as players. But it's good to see that fight and that desire to want to win. It's good to see that fire and competitiveness within our group. I think it only creates a healthy environment."
