Former Olympique Marseille fullback Eric de Meco has defended Manchester United star Paul Pogba.

De Meco feels the French press are demanding too much from the €100 million man.

He told SFR Sport: "Why (is he struggling)? Because we're all a little too demanding with him ... we feel he is so strong that we would like him to do more."

De Meco also had a pop at West Ham ace Dimitri Payet.

"I am demanding with Payet in the sense that he is a super player with stats, but not necessarily against the big teams. This was the case in Marseille. "
