De la Cruz signs Reading deal

Reading wing-back Ulises de la Cruz has signed a new one-year contract.

The 33-year-old Ecuador defender's current contract expires at the end of June, but he has agreed terms on a new deal.

"I'm really pleased that Ulises will be staying with us," said Reading director of football Nick Hammond.

"I went to see him play for Ecuador against Peru in Barcelona last week, and even though it was an end of season friendly he was still showing a great attitude and working hard up and down the pitch.

"That really illustrates the level of his professionalism and the kind of player he is.

"He has been a very influential character during his time with us and always offers a fantastic example to our young players. I'm sure he will make an excellent contribution in the forthcoming season, as he did during the last campaign."
