Nigel de Jong says Manchester City players have been in touch with Emmanuel Adebayor since his ordeal in Angola.
Adebayor is on compassionate leave following the horrific attack on the Togo team bus at the African Nations Cup, but De Jong is sure his City team-mate will emerge from his ordeal a stronger person.
"We have made some contact with him," said the former Ajax star. "It is a really tragic thing that has happened to the Togo squad. Hopefully he will be back soon to a more positive atmosphere at City.
"He is doing okay and he is not harmed, but there is an emotional scar if you have a near-death experience. He will come back stronger from this experience.
"He has great qualities, as we saw at the beginning of the season, (Adebayor scored four goals in the first five matches) and hopefully he will continue that."
