Manchester City midfielder Nigel de Jong feels they've taken a huge step to a top four finish with their thrashing of Sunderland.
City are now sitting pretty in the top four and have a six-point advantage over fifth-placed Tottenham, albeit having played an additional match.
De Jong told Sky Sports 1: "Our main goal at the start of the season was to qualify for the Champions League and that's still our main target, so it was a helpful three points today.
"There are still seven games to go and anything can happen but this is a great confidence boost for our team - we are real contenders for the Champions League places."
