Ajax midfielder Siem de Jong claims Newcastle United have held informal talks with his agent regarding his availability. He saw his brother Luuk spend the second half of the 2013/14 campaign on loan at Newcastle.
De Jong told Holland's Soccer News: "I really do not know what I'll do next season. I have spoken with the club but nothing is sorted.
"Also with Newcastle United, where my brother played last time, they have had a little contact with my agent.
"There was contact before, but it's nothing concrete.
"Newcastle is a great club."
Were De Jong to make a move to England, it appears unlikely that he will be joined by Luuk, with Newcastle having passed on the option of making his loan deal permanent.
Siem de Jong added: "I do not know if he'll be there. He is employed by (Borussia) Monchengladbach and has not received a contract offer from Newcastle.
"I'm going next week to talk to Ajax, then I'll see."
