Midfielder Siem de Jong has admitted that Newcastle United players were ashamed following the embarrassing 5-1 defeat at Crystal Palace on the weekend.
The result left the Magpies struggling in 19th position on the league table with ten points form 14 matches.
The Dutch international said: "Of course, everybody knows it should be better and we are all ashamed and disappointed.
"Everybody knows that we need to work hard to get out of this.
"We came in on Sunday to get a quick talk and recovery for the guys who didn't play, to do a good session, so everybody was ready to train today and focus on the next game."
