de Guzman delighted with return to Toronto

Julian de Guzman is delighted that he has returned to Toronto to continue his football career. The Canada international signed with Toronto FC as their designated player from Spanish club Deportivo la Coruna last week and is looking forward to donning the red shirt for his new club.

"I'm very excited. I have always imagined this moment happening and here it is," he said.

"It is a celebration for myself and my family and I think good things are going to happen for me being back home and being able to play with Toronto FC. It's a dream come true to be able to play for my hometown team.

"Initially I had options to go and continue my career in Spain and also to play with P.S.V or in England, but most of the time it was lots of speculation and rumours. TFC is the best option for me and I am very pleased to be here. This is a new chapter in my career."

The 28-year old admitted he had big goals to achieve with Toronto FC.

"I have goals just as much as the fans do and I am sure the players have big goals as well," he added.

"Right now TFC seems to be getting there as a well established club in the league and we need to work on winning titles. That's my goal in coming here. We will have to take it step by step and hopefully get into the playoffs this season."
