DC United veteran Moreno confirms he is not retired

Jaime Moreno was annoyed when he found out that his name was not on the list of available players for Wednesday's MLS Expansion Draft. The DC United veteran will part ways with the Washington club at the end of the year but says he has not retired and couldn't work out why his name was not out there for other clubs to have a look at.

"I didn't understand it," he told the Washington Post. "The fact that my name is not there, everyone is thinking I am retired. My name should be out there."

Moreno will not saddle up with DC next season but has yet to decide on the next step in his career, if there is one.

However, the fact that he has not announced his retirement means he should be eligible to picked up by another MLS team if they happen to be interested but with his name not available on the draft list, that cannot happen.

36-year old Moreno admitted he was unsure just what would happen with his playing career but said he was remaining open to any events that may occur.

"If I have a chance to play and the situation is right for me and my family," he said, "then I would look at it seriously."
