DC United and Dwayne De Rosario are currently in negotiations regarding a new contract for the star midfielder.
The Canada international is entering the final year of his deal with the Washington club and general manager Dave Kasper suggested to the Washington Post that discussions are positive.
DC have allocation money to ensure that De Rosario does not fill a Designated Player spot on the roster, saving them $250,000 of league tax to employ a third DP.
Last year, part of De Rosario's wages at DC were covered by his former club Toronto FC but from 2012 going forward, the 33-year old is exclusively a United player.
