DC United's Pontius, Birmingham's Spector added to USA squad

Juergen Klinsmann has added DC United midfielder Chris Pontius and Birmingham City defender Jonathan Spector to his USA squad for this week's friendly with Costa Rica.

The US team meet the Costa Ricans at The Home Depot Center in Carson, California on Friday, September 2 and will now welcome the aforementioned pair following the withdrawals of FC Dallas defender Zach Loyd and Chivas USA's Heath Pearce.

Meanwhile, national team star and Fulham midfielder Clint Dempsey will remain in London to undergo treatment for a back problem before linking up with the team in Brussels on Saturday ahead of the September 6 clash with Belgium.
