DC United's Allsopp excited about MLS challenge

DC United recruit Danny Allsopp is excited about the new challenge in front of him.

The 31-year old former Melbourne Victory striker has joined the MLS club from Qatar's Al Rayyan and is looking to experience plenty of success in the USA.

"The league's made a bit of a reputation around the world," Allsopp told MLSnet.com.

"Everyone knows about it and I'm looking forward to being part of it.

"I just want to do well for the club and for myself, and try and enjoy my time here in the States. It's a great opportunity for me and I'm hoping to be part of a successful team."

The third all-time leading goalscorer in the A-League understands his chance to play at international level for the Socceroos may have passed but he admits that stranger things have happened.

"If I can do well here for D.C. then you never know what could happen, but I think I'd be crazy if I planned anything around making the national team," added Allsopp.

"It seems like I'm out of the picture at the moment so I'll just get on with it, try to enjoy my football and do as well as I can."
