Chris Pontius has been named the MLS Player of the Week for Week 7 of the 2012 season.
The DC United attacker netted a hat-trick as his side beat New York Red Bulls 4-1 at RFK Stadium on Sunday and his coach, Ben Olsen, believes the midfielder-cum-forward will only get better in his new position.
"He's still new at the position, and some of his movements can get a lot better. But three goals aren't too bad.""He still doesn't know how to play forward though and that's a scary thing," said Olsen after the match.
24-year old Pontius scored in the 8th, 32nd and 69th minutes with his goals allowing DC to move up to second on the Eastern Conference, leapfrogging New York, and giving him the first weekly win from a DC player so far this term.
