DC United have confirmed plans to offer Dwayne De Rosario a new contract.
De Rosario, 33, is entering the club-held option year on a contract that paid him about $500,000 this season.
"We would like to sit down with Dwayne and his representative and discuss an extension," General Manager Dave Kasper told the Washington Post.
De Rosario smiled: "It's huge. That's what I always wanted, especially as a family guy, I have to do what's right not only for me, but for my family as well. When you talk about contract negotiations, all of these things you have to bear in mind. The main focus right now is finishing the season out on a good note and then we'll deal with all that stuff after."
