Dawson takes delight in Tottenham's positive response

Michael Dawson was thrilled to see Tottenham recoil swiftly from last weekend's 1-0 loss at Norwich City.

Spurs managed to produce a narrow 1-0 victory over Cardiff City at White Hart Lane on Sunday, thanks to Roberto Soldado's 28th minute goal, allowing them to move closer to the top four.

After the match, Dawson spoke of just how crucial that set of three points is to Tottenham as they continue to strive for a top-four finish.

"(It was) massive. We knew after the disappointment away at Norwich last week we needed to bounce back in the Premier League and we did that," the defender told Sky Sports.

"It was a hard-fought win, which we knew it was going to be playing a team fighting for their lives but we went out and performed and got a good win.

"We'll never give up (for fourth spot). That was our aim at the start of the season. It's never changed in the dips we've had and we're still fighting."

Spurs currently sit in fifth spot, four points behind Manchester City who have two games in hand, and six behind north London rivals Arsenal with 10 league fixture remaining.
