Aston Villa have sent Simon Dawkins back to Tottenham.

Dawkins made just four appearances for Paul Lambert's Villa side as they battled to stay in the Premier League.

The 25-year-old winger was released by Spurs in 2009 following a series of injury setbacks before re-joining the club two years later.

Dawkins, who also had a period on loan at Leyton Orient, has spent the past two seasons reviving his career with the San Jose Earthquakes before his spell at Villa Park.
