Davis lauds Southampton boss Pochettino, chairman Cortese

Southampton midfielder Steven Davis has heaped praise on manager Mauricio Pochettino and chairman Nicola Cortese following the clubs stunning start to the Premier League season.

The Saints currently sit third on the table after 11 matches, having suffered just one defeat, and Davis feels it has a lot to do with Pochettino's game style as well as Cortese following up on promises of signing quality players.

"It's still early doors this season, but you can see we're ambitious and you can see how the manager sets us up to be brave and attack. We try to dominate opposition," said Davis.

"A lot stems from the chairman as well. When I signed, what they portrayed to me in the talks has been backed up.

"It's been an unbelievable rise for Southampton from League One to where we are at this point in time but it's still just a start and there's a lot more room for progression."
