Davis confident Rangers can progress in Europe

Rangers midfielder Steven Davis is extremely confident that the club can turn around their Champions League fortunes. The Scottish champions are on the verge of being eliminated from qualifying for Europe's premier club competition after losing 1-0 to Swedish club Malmo at Ibrox on Tuesday but Davis says that the return leg next week will be a more positive experience for the Glasgow giants.

"We have given ourselves an uphill struggle," he said.

"If you go a goal behind, it gives them something to hold on to.

"In the second half they sat back and we had a lot of possession, creating chances. But it wasn't to be.

"Obviously it was not the result we were looking for and everybody is disappointed.

"But we'll go over there and try to progress. If we get a goal then everything looks a bit brighter.

"The good thing is we created a few chances. So we need to take them in the second leg."
