Davies wants Forest to be active in January transfer window

Billy Davies believes what Nottingham Forest do during the January transfer window is crucial to their Premier League ambitions. The Scot insists what happens off the pitch will be as important as what happens on it in the coming weeks, and a list of transfer targets is already being drawn up.

"December, January and February are important months and I can talk about how important the fixtures are during that period, because that sets you up for the run-in. But I have to say that my biggest concern is the January transfer window," said Davies. "The games will take care of themselves and we will be as well prepared as we can but as I have said before, when you look at the run-in, that is when things are won and lost.

"From that point of view, what is more important than the games is what we do in January during the transfer window to make sure we are prepared for that period.

"We are already discussing players, we are already discussing targets and options. Work is being done to get us in the position we need to be in January.

"I have great confidence that, in January, the ambition of Forest will be shown by the faces we bring in and the work that we do. I am very confident that the job can still be done, in terms of getting out of the Championship."
