Davies on target as DC United down Seattle Sounders

DC United forward Charlie Davies scored his sixth goal for the 2011 MLS season as he led his side to a 2-1 home win over Seattle Sounders on Wednesday night.

The 24-year old struck in the 52nd minute to add to Josh Wolff's earlier goal as the Washington club moved to fifth on the Eastern Conference table.

Just after the half-hour mark, Davies found space down the right flank before cutting back for Wolff who slotted home with his left foot from the six-yard box for his 75th MLS goal.

20 minutes later, Wolff became the provider when he played an inch-perfect angled ball to Davies and the Sochaux loanee made no mistake from close range before Brad Evans got one back from the penalty spot with 20 minutes remaining.

DC goalkeeper Bill Hamid came up with a vital save six minutes later when Sounders star Fredy Montero lashed at goal from outside the area which was enough to see United take all three points.
