Davies proud over Bolton captaincy

Kevin Davies was proud to wear the captain's armband in Bolton's home defeat by Chelsea on Sunday.

The striker responded superbly after being handed the captaincy with Kevin Nolan - as well as Gary Speed- being dropped from the squad.

"I'm proud to captain the boys," said Davies. "I do enjoy it. It gave my performance a little lift.

"We controlled the game against one of the top four teams, one of the best in Europe.

"We opened Chelsea up a few times, looked the better team throughout the game and only got done by one basic ball down the middle.

"We battled, the tackles were going in and it was an enjoyable game to play in.

"We have improved over the last six games. Hopefully we can keep that going and start picking up some victories."
