Davies may have to wait until season is over for new Bolton contract talks

Bolton captain Kevin Davies acknowledges that he may have to wait until the conclusion of the current campaign to sort out his future.

The 34-year old striker's deal expires in the summer and he is keen to sign an extension but knows things could be put on the backburner as the club looks to get themselves out of a precarious position on the league table.

"There has been no discussion at the moment, but what will be, will be. Everyone knows what I feel about the club," he told the Bolton News.

"It isn't something I'm really thinking about. I just want to move us out of this situation in the league.

"When the club decide to open talks might depend on the league position.

"If we are going to find ourselves in a relegation battle with a few games to go then that could have some bearing on whether the chairman (Phil Gartside) is going to be offering contracts.

"But if we can get out of this position then it will help everyone.

"We need to string some results together and we have certainly got the squad to do that."
