Davies injury opens door for good friend Findley

Real Salt Lake forward Robbie Findley was shattered when he heard about the accident his good friend Charlie Davies was involved in.

The USA international and Sochaux forward sustained serious injuries in the accident which shocked Findley who describes himself as a similar player to Davies.

Findley was devastated to learn of Davies' plight but said the possibility to potentially push his way up the pecking order in the USA national team became a thought soon after.

"Charlie is a dear friend and a former roommate," Findley said, referring to their time with the Olympic team.

"I see a lot of similarities in our games and when he got hurt it popped into my mind that I might get an opportunity to step in and help out.

"But for right now, I'm just focused on what's going on with the club."

The Royals are currently involved in the MLS play-offs and take on Chicago Fire in the Eastern Conference final for a chance to go through to the MLS Cup Final where they will meet either the LA Galaxy or Houston Dynamo.
