Curtis Davies admits he doesn't know if Aston Villa captain Martin Laursen will play again.
Davies said: "He's the captain and the leader. He's a big, solid figure and he's a big player for us. If he has to retire, it's a massive blow but more so for him.
"I'd love him to still be playing football. I really don't know too much about it.
"He's been trying his best to get things sorted and hopefully he can come back next season. It would be hard to replace him. He's a presence in both boxes - scoring goals, clearing balls. He's an out and out centre half. He's an old school centre half.
"Maybe, if we had that side (against West Ham), we would have won."
