Davies: Brown will build global Derby network

Derby County boss Billy Davies admits they're expanding their global scouting network under new football advisor Craig Brown.

"We have to open up the marketplace and as a Premier League club we must have those networks in place," said Davies.

"I think we have to aim for a balance in the squad of 70 or 80 per cent British players and 20 or 30 per cent foreign players. That's what I would like to put in place."

Former Scotland boss Brown is a hugely respected figure across Europe.

"Craig has been studying a lot of players in different countries and that will be a big asset to us, and don't forget the experience he has had at international level, with World Cups and European Championships. So he is a wonderful source for us to tap into," said Davies.
