Davids: I'd love to see Del Piero wear the Juventus shirt again

Edgar Davids says he would love to see Alessandro Del Piero again don the famous black and white stripes of Juventus.

The 39-year old Sydney FC striker has committed to play for the A-League All-Stars against his former club in August but ex-Bianconeri teammate Davids admits it would be great to see him play a cameo for the Italians.

"I'd love to see him do that," Davids told Fox Sports.

"[The game] is a chance for him to be part of the Australian history, but also Juventus can honour a player like Alessandro who has been exceptional example in the past for them.

"When you see the history of Juventus, you really get the chills and want to get back out there and kick a ball.

"When you're playing the game, you don't see the impact of what you're doing. When you step back a bit [after retirement] you realise the privilege of being part of Juventus's history.

"Knowing Alessandro, he definitely leaves a good memory behind [in Australia] of him as a gentleman, and also some flashes of his old brilliance."

However, Davids' wishes will not be made true as Del Piero will only grace the ANZ Stadium pitch alongside the A-League All-Stars when they meet the Old Lady on Sunday, August 10.
