The family of Davide Astori has thanked everyone for their support after the Fiorentina captain's sudden passing this year.

Astori passed away earlier this year ahead of a game against Udinese.

His family, partner Francesca and their baby daughter Vittoria have sent out a message.

“Thank you," read the full-page ad in La Nazione newspaper.

“It's a simple, but unique term, just like Davide was.

“We want to say THANK YOU personally to all of you who have been close to us from that unexpected March 4, but you are so many that it'd be impossible.

“Therefore it is like this, as David was accustomed to doing with a smile and a strong hug, that we say to all of you: THANK YOU FROM THE HEART.

“The Astori family, Francesca and Vittoria."
