David Luiz at contract loggerheads with Chelsea: Let's see...

David Luiz is at contract loggerheads with Chelsea - with the prospect of leaving at season's end a genuine prospect.

Brazil international Luiz, 31, is a free agent at the end of the season and although he wants to stay, there is no sign of an extension.

The club are hopeful that fellow defender Antonio Rudiger will be their next player to commit himself to a new deal, folowing N'Golo Kante, Marcos Alonso and Cesar Azpilicueta in putting pen to paper.

Luiz will start getting pre-contract offers from January 1 and Chelsea are only prepared to offer a 12-month extension because of his age, which may force him to look elsewhere, says the Mirror.

Asked whether or not he would accept a one-year extension, Luiz — who is in his second spell with the Blues — replied: “We are still talking, let's see. Let's see what the future brings. I love this club, everybody knows I want to stay."
