Burnley midfielder David Jones is urging fans to look long-term.
Jones - who also suffered relegation from the top flight at Wigan in 2013 and only just survived with Wolves two years earlier - is adamant there is light at the end of the tunnel.
He said: "Here, you feel the gaffer is building something and you feel those things have been put into place and we're going in the right direction.
"Although it doesn't seem like it, we have moved forward as a squad from last year. You see it in training and you see it in some of the play on a Saturday that we are moving forward and I definitely get that distinct feeling.
"I know you get judged in football on our results so it's hard to see that from the outside, but from the inside it's a club moving forward.
"I think you probably look at it and think that we'd be despondent and not be positive.
"But at this club since I've been here we've been a very positive squad, the manager and the staff have never dwelt on disappointments.
"We're a very resilient bunch of players and for the game on Saturday I think the lads are as positive as I've seen them this season."
