Dave Jones proud of his time at Wolves

Dave Jones enjoyed his time at Wolves.

The 55-year-old took Wolves to the big time for the first time in 20 years in 2003 but was starved of funds to rebuild and tumbled back down immediately.

"It was fantastic times," he told the Sunday Mercury. "I was the first manager to get them to the Premier League.

"Everybody else had tried, ex-England managers and all sorts. My criteria was to get them promoted in three years and I did it in two.

"The sad thing for me was that they then didn't push on and give me the money to add to that. Now the new chairman has come in (Steve Morgan) and Mick (McCarthy) has had that luxury of going out and spending £5m or £6m on players."
