New Darlington boss Steve Staunton has brought in his first two players since taking over on Wednesday.
The former Liverpool and Aston Villa defender has signed experienced striker Noel Whelan on a non-contract basis and Liverpool left-back Robbie Threlfall.
20-year old Threlfall has joined on a one-month deal after experiencing loan stints with Hereford United, Stockport County and Northampton Town in the past few seasons.
34-year old Whelan has a distinguished career behind him as a striker.
He has played with Leeds United, Coventry City, Middlesbrough, Millwall and Aberdeen among others.
