Danny Bonaduce tries out for Philadelphia Union!

Child actor-turned radio personality Danny Bonaduce was one of about 400 people who turned up for try-outs with MLS expansion franchise Philadelphia Union on Saturday.

The 50-year old former Partridge Family actor braved the nasty weather at the University of Pennsylvania with the dream of one becoming a MLS player but Bonaduce admitted he was just in it for the fun.

"I made it further than I thought," said the host of WYSP's morning show in Philadelphia. "It's not my nature to quit.

"My neighbor, who's a guitarist for a rock band, taught my kid how to play soccer," he added. "So I thought I'd learn."

Union coach Peter Nowak said it was fair all people to try-out and was happy with the turn out and feedback the new club received.

"We like to give everyone a chance," Nowak said. "Wherever they come from, they know about the league and they know about our team. So that's very promising. We cannot guarantee anything. All we're offering is the opportunity to make the team. It's up to them how they proceed with it."
