Barcelona fullback Daniel Alves has criticised the club for the way they offloaded Eric Abidal in the summer. The French veteran was cut loose after making a sensational return from a kidney transplant.

He told Rac1: "It was a rude awakening. On the efforts made by him and for all what happened. It personally bothered me because I love him very much and I wanted him here.

"Barça is more than a club for what they had done to get him back. But losing him like that then leaves it bittersweet."
