Dalglish: Liverpool title drought unthinkable 20 years ago

Liverpool icon Kenny Dalglish admits their trophy drought would have been unthinkable when he was in charge at Anfield.

It's now 20 years since Liverpool last won the league.

As one of the most decorated figures in Anfield history launched his autobiography, appropriately enough in Liverpool's trophy room, Dalglish said: "If someone had said, back then, that we wouldn't win another title for at least 20 years, they would have been sectioned.

"Honestly, they would have been shot or locked up, but that is what has happened. We have to get through this period and get back to being as committed and strong as before. A lot of people comment on the conflict between Fergie and me all those years ago, but he has shown you can never write him off.

"I wasn't concerned about Alex Ferguson at the time, just with my own career and what was happening at Anfield. I couldn't have known he would still be managing United 20-odd years later, but I did know he was really good at his job."
