Former Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish says Steven Gerrard and Andy Carroll didn't let anyone down at the Euros.

Dalglish wrote in the Mirror: "Steven Gerrard did a magnificent job as captain on and off the pitch and when Andy Carroll got a chance to play, he did not do himself any harm.

"Gerrard and (Scott) Parker looked tired against Italy, though.

"The way England played was very demanding for them and the two lads on the flanks.

"The workload of Gerrard and Parker was really high and for two players on the wrong side of 30, that was a big, big ask."
