Dalglish dismisses reports of long term Liverpool contract

Caretaker boss Kenny Dalglish has denied reports that he has been offered a long-term contract as Liverpool manager. Stories in the weekend newspapers had suggested that Liverpool's owners, the Fenway Sports Group, are prepared to extend the agreement which at present only confirms Dalglish as boss until the end of the season.

When questioned on the subject of an extension, Dalglish told a post-match press conference after the West Ham defeat: "A contract from who?"

A reporter replied "From the club" to which Liverpool's manager said: "I thought you meant the wife was putting me under contract again!

"If there is any news to be told we'll tell you. I'm happy to be here, I'll do what I've got to do for the club that means an awful lot to me.

"There's never been a discussion other than the first ones so I'm not sure where they (the Sunday newspaper) have got that from."
