The father of Xabi Alonso admits the Real Madrid midfielder hasn't shut the door on renewing his contract.

Xabi has just over a year to run on his current deal and is being linked with a return to the Premier League, where Liverpool are keen.

Dad Periko told Marca: "Xabi wants some time to make a decision about renewing.

"Will he go back to Real Sociedad? I see this being difficult."
