But he incurred the wrath of his father Thierry by telling a Belgian radio station: "Many teams have shown an interest in me, but the most concrete offer came from a top team in England. Everybody knows which one.
"Chelsea did an interesting offer to my agent and said they want me because they see me as a successor to Petr Cech. It's nice they have so much confidence in me, and maybe they could loan me back to Genk, to begin with. We are talking about it now with the Genk board."
But Courtois senior brought his son sharply into line by saying: "Chelsea did an offer, but it was too low and was refused.
"He still has a contract here for three years, and we are happy with Genk. It was youthful exuberance on his part, and I will reprimand him for that."
