Dad insists Bendtner happy at Arsenal

Arsenal forward Nicklas Bendtner will not be leaving the club, according to his father and agent, while manager Arsene Wenger also took time out to praise the Danish youngster.

Rumours had been linking the 20-year-old with a move to Germany, with champions Bayern Munich and Werder Bremen both thought to be interested in making a £8 million move for the tall forward, who had a fairly inconsistent first season with the Gunners.

"I have heard about these offers from Germany but Nicklas will stay at Arsenal," revealed his father and agent.

"The only way things could be different was if something unexpected should happen, such as him being moved totally outside of the team, but it is difficult to see that happening as he is playing right now."

Wenger has stressed the need to keep his young team together on countless occasions, and singled Bendtner out for praise, being confident that he will perform at a much higher level next season.

"I feel as well some young players have made big progress and next year they will be better players," said Wenger.

"Players like Bendtner, who has already made progress from the start of the season. Next year you can consider him a real striker."
