Frank Lampard Snr is thrilled his son will lead England tonight against Denmark. Dad has hopped on a plane for Copenhagen to see the Chelsea midfielder take the England armband.
The 62-year-old, a former West Ham and England player, told the Daily Mail: "Leading out your country is a special moment for any player. Once you've done it they can never take it away from you and I have to be there."
Lampard Snr, who attends nearly all his son's matches, was not planning to go to the friendly in Denmark. But he said: "We got an inkling that my boy might get the captaincy and when the news was confirmed I scrambled to book a flight.
"We will both be thinking of his mother and feel that she will be sharing the moment with us. I'm sure Frank will raise the armband to the heavens in her memory."
