Dad: Boo boys will never beat Chelsea's Lampard

The father of Chelsea ace Frank Lampard admits it's tough seeing his son criticised by fans.

Lampard Jnr won his first cap in October 1999 in a friendly against Belgium but it was to be another three years before he became an established international.

"And that wasn't always easy for him," Dad and former West Ham United star Frank Snr told the Sunday Mirror. "With England, players get singled out if things aren't going well and with him being at Chelsea, he got some stick.

"That happens when England lose. But he handled that just as he handled the abuse when he came back to play West Ham.

"There must have been times with England when he thought: 'What is this all about?' And wondered why he was getting jeered. He is not silly. But he didn't walk out on England.

"He doesn't quit. He faces up to things and gets over it."
