Dad admits Man Utd move 'too big' for Roma winger Kluivert

The father of AS Roma winger Justin Kluivert says a move to Manchester United last summer was "too big".

Kluivert left Ajax for Roma, but not before considering a move to United.

Speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport, Kluivert says a move to United would have been "a jump too big".

He continued: "Roma is a big club, but the pressure is lower there. It is no obligation for Roma to win all the matches. It is for the time being the ideal place for Justin.

"And then ... Who does not dream of Barcelona? Having said that, Italian football is on the rise and that's what Justin can benefit from.

"I had hoped he would stay with Ajax for another year, but he made his choice, I think Roma is a good club for him, and the step to the Premier League would have been too big for him."
