Holland assistant coach Danny Blind admits being tough on his son, Daley Blind, during his time with Ajax.

The Manchester United midfielder is now winning praise in England for his form at left-back.

Blind Snr admits: "Perhaps I didn't treat him objectively in the past.

"That was during the period when he first joined the Dutch team."

He added: "If he had played a good game for Ajax, I said he had only played properly. I never went further.

"Now I don't have to do that anymore. He is making his own way."
