Manchester United winger Adnan Januzaj is edging closer to committing to England.
Adnan Januzaj's father has claimed a "lack of professionalism" from Belgium and Albania has increased the prospect of the Manchester United youngster choosing to play for England.
"I know Roy Hodgson said he would consider having Adnan in the English squad in the future," Abedin told KTV. "But, as I said for Albania and Belgium, it is not something we are considering right now.
"Our full potential will be focused on doing well with Manchester United. But I want to let everyone know that I never had any call from the Albania FA [FSHF] to sit down and talk. The only thing they did was to misinform the public, saying they talked to Januzaj, which is not true.
"I hear an official from the Albanian FA said they talked to me eight months ago, which is a blatant lie. They did a show called 'Patriot or Traitor' for my son and FSHF said they called him up. That is not true.
"I am not closing the doors to Albania, because we are Albanians. However, they are closing the doors to themselves. I only deal with professionals on the issue."
Having failed several times to persuade Adnan to play for Belgium, national coach Marc Wilmots insisted in midweek that it was up to the player to declare his intentions.
Abedin said: "They wanted him, but I don't like their approach either. I am not blackmailing them as I'm not asking for any national team to get my son. It is them who want Adnan. I know the Belgium coach said, 'We won't surrender to the blackmails by the father', but I want to tell him that you are the one asking him to play, but you have to be professional in this issue."
Abedin revealed his son would not represent Serbia, Turkey and Croatia because "we have no connections with these countries".
