Sunderland defender Paulo da Silva is confident he will soon produce his best form in England.
The Paraguay international, who will captain his country at this summer's World Cup, has twice been voted the best defender in South America.
But he has struggled for a regular start since his arrival last year.
"I always knew this season would be all about adapting to my new home," said Da Silva, who is expected to line up against Burnley tomorrow. "But I am definitely looking forward to next year. That is the big one for me.
"I know everyone will see a big difference in me and I expect to be playing a lot more. When I arrived, I did not think I would have much time on the pitch this season, so I am actually quite pleased with the amount of football I have had.
"Hopefully people over here will know me a lot better because I have had a good World Cup for Paraguay, but when I report back, I will have had one year under my belt. I will speak the language better and will take part in a proper pre-season, which I did not have last year.
"I have always seen this move as a very big opportunity, a whole new experience, and one I am determined to enjoy. And I am convinced I will win my fight to win a regular place in the Sunderland side."
