Cypriot midfielder sign on at QPR until end of season

Cypriot midfielder Georgios Tofas has inked a deal until the end of the season with Championship QPR. Tofas has been training with the club in recent weeks after his departure from Anorthosis Famagusta.

The 21-year-old has previously been on the books of AEK Athens and is looking forward to making an impact at Loftus Road.

"QPR is such a big club and I'm happy to be here," Tofas told the club's official website. "I'll give my best for the club.

"My first objective is to get into the team and then show the boss and the supporters what I am capable of."

The Rs are awaiting international clearance on Tofas, who is expected to return to full training in the next 10 days after a hamstring injury.

Boss Neil Warnock said: "Georgios is somebody who has excited me when I have watched him.

"He looks like our type of player - he can take men on, yet he knows he has to work hard for the rest of the team. He has got the right work ethic.

"The chance to bring him in until the end of the season was too good an opportunity for me to turn down."
