The 28-year old Jamaica international was a key factor in the Rapids’ 2010 MLS triumph, scoring 14 goals, and has subsequently been linked with clubs abroad.
But Smith said that his attacking weapon would not be going anywhere.
“Omar’s an individual that nobody wants to lose,” he told MLSsoccer.com. “The guy has to be rewarded. We want to have players that feel they are being rewarded and that are happy and comfortable.
“We will be doing absolutely everything possible to secure not only his immediate but also his long-term future.”
