Culina expects Gold Coast United firepower to improve

Gold Coast United's marquee man Jason Culina expects the attacking stocks of the club to improve as the season goes on. At present, United have youngster Bruce Djite and Culina up front with Joel Porter expected to return from injury soon and after notching up just one win in five matches, things look bleak at Skilled Park.

But Culina, who has been playing a slightly more advanced role than normal, is calm about the goalscoring prospects despite there being just one in their past three outings.

"I wasn't that frustrated," said Culina after the scoreless draw with Central Coast Mariners on Sunday.

"It's only the second time (Bruce Djite and I) have played together and I think we did some really good combinations.

"It's going to take time, these kind of partnerships don't just happen overnight and I think we've still got Joel Porter to come back so he'll just add to the danger up front.

"I think we've got enough fire-power up front."

Culina and United will be hoping things can change when they take on Newcastle Jets in the Week 7 midweek clash tomorrow night at home - kick-off is at 7:30pm.
